About me

Hello again, I'm Carlos and I'm a Qigong practitioner and certified instructor. I've been practicing Qigong since 2020 and teaching since 2022. Here is a bit about me from a Qigong perspective. We're all works in progress. Here is my journey.
Carlos Justiniano
In my youth I briefly studied Northern Shaolin Kung Fu at Grand Master Allen Lee's school in New York City, Fu Jow Pai (Tiger Claw System) under Shifu Paul Vizzio in New Jersey, and meditation and Yoga - long before they were widely practiced.

By my college years, those practices became little more than distant memories as I started a family and an ongoing thirty year career in technology.

Fast forward a few decades... During the pandemic life drastically slowed for many of us as we searched for ways to keep sane. This is when I started an online course on Qigong - an ancient Chinese wellness practice, which like Yoga, can be dated back for thousands of years.

Qigong was exactly what I needed. I enjoyed the daily practice and the benefits so much that I decided to enroll in a formal teacher training program so that I could feel comfortable sharing Qigong with others.

After researching a number of Qigong schools, in 2021, I choose to study under Lee Holden.

Lee Holden and Carlos Justiniano

Lee Holden is an internationally recognized Qigong Master who trained under several masters including Mantak Chia, a well known teacher of Taoist practices. Lee Holden's career includes the production of numerous instructional videos and online courses that make Qigong accessible to a broader audience. His programs have been featured on PBS, where his Qigong practices have reached millions of viewers. He is also an international lecturer and published author, writing books and articles on Qigong, meditation, and wellness.

Unlike numerous esoteric practices, Holden Qigong is designed to be approachable for our western culture and is highly inclusive and suitable for body and image conscious practitioners.

In April of 2022, I completed my 200-hour Tier-1 certification which allowed me to begin sharing Qigong in my town of Salt Lake City, first at The Mindful Living Wellness Center. Shortly after, I joined Survivor Wellness , a non-profit organization which offers wellness services to cancer survivors and their caregivers. I've been a wellness provider and resident Qigong instructor at Survivor Wellness for the past two and a half years.

In August of 2024, I completed the Holden Qigong Tier-2 500-hour advanced teacher training program. Certification: Teacher Directory

My areas of study include:
  • Qigong practices - which I adapt for practitioners of all age groups and or physical impediments.
  • Breath work and Meditation - mindfulness practices.
  • Taoyin (Taoist yoga-like movements) - for enhanced wellness and vitality.
  • Acupressure and self massage.

  • I've been a Qigong instructor for the past two and a half years, and my daily practice consists of a one to two-hour session which more often than not, begins a 5am.

Professionally, I'm a technologist and hold a 2005 Guinness World Record involving Internet technologies. I've spoken at international conferences and my work has been published in numerous leading journals. A good portion of my career has involved technology leadership positions at several Fitness companies. In October of 2023, I founded PNXTech LLC , a technology company focused on creating immersive experiences for learning movement-based practices.
